Preserving Spaces: Easement Monitor Training

Join us at Bear-Paw’s Brown’s Woods Preserve in Deerfield, NH
Dive into the heart of conservation with our Easement Monitor Workshop, led by Bear-Paw founders Frank Mitchell and Phil Auger. Designed for environmental stewards, this immersive program equips participants with the practical skills and knowledge needed to monitor and protect vital conservation easements. We'll explain the details of monitoring a property:
- How to read a survey
- How to read a compass
- Boundary lines/marks/blazing
- Building land-owner relationships
- Violations and what to do about them
- Outdoor safety
At the end of this training, you'll be ready to be paired with one of our experienced monitors to co-monitor a property together this year. Once you have that experience under your belt, we can assign you a property to monitor on your own!
We will be outside, so please wear appropriate clothing for the weather and comfortable hiking shoes; bring water and snacks if you need them!
